Roost Hiawatha

This micro-housing development in Central Seattle was designed specifically for the arts community, and features maximized communal space. The landscape connects the building to the streetscape and features new street trees, lush street and foundation planting, semi-screening to the ground floor commercial space, and a celebration of stormwater with a runnel and bioretention planter at the main entry. Out of the 33 units, 9 are set at below market rates and the ground floor space is leased exclusively to arts nonprofits. The project received a 5-star built green certification, and a 2022 AIA Award of Merit.
