Coastal Cottage
This Anacortes cottage is close to the saltwater and matched well with a northwest beach aesthetic. PLA also included perennial grasses and shrubs that provide high color and seasonal interest, similar to what client had been accustomed to in the Midwest. We retained and transplanted all existing plants that worked in the new design.
The resulting garden is a mix of modern swaths of Pacific Northwest saltwater beach plants and traditional accent plantings. The new plants will grow to be appropriately sized in their locations, reducing long term pruning maintenance. The plant choices are also drought tolerant to reduce irrigation demands once established. Stone pathways increase accessibility and organize the space in clear delineations.
